Position: Logistics Team Leader G7 Scp23 (Management)

Pay Rate: PAYE: £17.85 per hour
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the logistics team, ensuring efficient delivery of services
- Supervise, support, and motivate team members to achieve operational targets and maintain high performance standards
- Coordinate logistics activities, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management
- Monitor service delivery and ensure that all logistics operations comply with organisational policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements
- Allocate workloads effectively and provide guidance to team members to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time
- Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and service quality
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation relating to logistics activities and team performance
- Work collaboratively with internal departments, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing processes and recommending enhancements
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, contractual requirements, and council standards
- Assist with recruitment, training, performance management, and development of logistics staff where required
- Manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of customer service
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a logistics, transport, warehouse, or operational management environment
- Experience of supervising or leading a team and managing staff performance
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to analyse operational issues and implement effective solutions
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a logistics environment
- Ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear reports
- Experience working within a customer-focused service environment
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions while also contributing as part of a wider team
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
- Knowledge of logistics systems, scheduling processes, and resource management
- Experience of continuous improvement methods and service development
- Relevant qualification or training in logistics, management, transport, or a related field
- Understanding of equality, diversity, confidentiality, and safeguarding principles
