Job Overview
We are looking for reliable, caring and committed Bank Residential Childcare Workers to join our team supporting young people in both of our residential children's homes in Northamptonshire.
This is a zero-hours bank position, offering flexibility for individuals who are looking to work additional shifts around other commitments, including other employment, education or personal responsibilities.
There are no guaranteed hours under this contract. Shifts will be offered according to the needs of the home and the availability of bank staff. Bank workers will be expected to work agreed shifts reliably and to maintain appropriate availability in line with the requirements of the service.
Requirements
- Candidates must be over the age of 21, in accordance with the requirements applicable to our service.
- A full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years is required.
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK.
- We are currently unable to offer visa sponsorship.
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in residential childcare or a support environment, is desirable but not essential.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the protection, safeguarding and wellbeing of the young people in our care.
- Demonstrate to young people the value of education, care and personal development to help achieve positive outcomes.
- Build positive relationships based on mutual trust and respect, enabling young people to respond appropriately to information, guidance and advice.
- Establish and maintain appropriate structures and boundaries, acting as a positive role model and helping young people understand the routines and expectations of the home.
- Complete and maintain relevant house paperwork and records, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and appropriately shared.
- Support young people to manage their behaviour and encourage participation in positive, structured routines.
- Plan and participate in appropriate activities that support young people's development, education and acquisition of life skills.
- Work as part of the wider care team and communicate effectively with colleagues, managers and other professionals.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, safeguarding requirements and standards applicable to residential childcare.
- Follow all company policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.
- Attend required training, meetings and supervision as appropriate to the role.
About the Company
We are a new children's service provider located in Northamptonshire.
Our Northampton and Wellingborough homes are registered for three young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and have been refurbished to a high standard.
The service benefits from an experienced management and senior leadership team with over 30 years' combined experience in residential care.
