Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with materials handling and receiving, and maintaining a safe and organised yard environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in warehouse operations, mechanical tasks, and equipment handling within a family owned business. Reporting to the dairy manager, the successful candidate will enjoy competitive rates of pay along with the ability to progress internally should they demonstrate an ability and an appetite to learn.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, including forklifts where qualified (training will be given).
- Organise and maintain the yard and storage areas to ensure safety and efficiency
- Handle materials carefully, adhering to safety protocols and warehouse procedures
- Conduct basic mechanical tasks related to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with team members to optimise yard operations and workflow optimisation
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to minimise risks in a busy environment
Requirements
- Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for specific tasks
- Valid forklift licence or a willingness to obtain certification is vital (this will be done in house)
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Physical fitness to handle demanding tasks throughout the shift
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Pay: From £12.90 per hour
