About the Role
Tigers Gymnastics Centre is looking for a friendly, reliable and proactive Café Supervisor to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our on-site café.
Our café serves gymnasts, parents, visitors and staff throughout the week. This is a hands-on role involving customer service, preparing and serving food and drinks, stock management, cleaning, food hygiene and supporting other café team members.
We are looking for someone who will take ownership of the café and ensure it remains clean, organised, well stocked and welcoming.
There is some flexibility around the working pattern for the right person. Although we would ideally like someone who can cover most of the advertised hours, we may be able to arrange for another team member to cover one regular day or shift each week.
Additional cleaning hours elsewhere within the gymnastics centre may also be available for someone seeking a larger number of hours.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Café Operations
- Open and close the café, ensuring it is clean, presentable and fully stocked
- Prepare and serve food and drinks efficiently and with friendly customer service
- Maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the café, kitchen, seating and stockroom areas
- Restock fridges, drawers, shelves and displays
- Clean café equipment, including the coffee and slushy machines
- Wipe tables and surfaces and hoover, sweep and mop the café and reception areas
- Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately
- Process payments, cash up and accurately record daily takings
Stock and Ordering
- Monitor and manage stock levels
- Place and manage regular supplier orders
- Receive and store deliveries correctly
- Keep the stockroom and storage areas clean, organised and easy to manage
- Monitor use-by dates, stock rotation and wastage
Café Development and Promotion
- Suggest improvements to the café offering based on customer needs and current trends
- Research food and drink ideas suitable for a family and sport-focused environment
- Put forward ideas for new products, promotions or service improvements
- Take and edit photographs and help create café-related content for the Tigers website and social media
Team Support
- Help with the onboarding, training and supervision of other café team members
- Ensure casual café staff understand the relevant procedures and expected standards
- Help coordinate shift cover where needed
- Lead by example and maintain high standards of presentation, customer service and conduct
Health, Safety and Food Hygiene
- Complete required food hygiene and health and safety training
- Check and record fridge and freezer temperatures
- Complete cleaning, opening, closing and safety checklists
- Ensure the café operates in accordance with food hygiene, allergen and safety requirements
Working Hours
The available café hours currently fall within the following times:
- Monday: 4.00pm–6.30pm
- Tuesday: 4.00pm–6.30pm
- Wednesday: 4.00pm–6.30pm
- Thursday: 9.00am–12.00pm and 4.00pm–6.30pm
- Friday: 9.00am–11.00am and 4.00pm–6.30pm
- Saturday: 7.45am–11.00am
- Sunday: 9.30am–5.00pm, depending on party bookings
Applicants do not necessarily need to be available for every shift listed.
We can offer some flexibility for the right person and may be able to arrange alternative cover for one regular day or shift each week. Please provide full details of your availability when applying.
Sunday hours will vary depending on party bookings and the needs of the centre.
Additional paid cleaning hours may be available across the wider gymnastics centre. These may include cleaning bathrooms, staff and reception areas and hoovering the gymnastics floor.
About You

Previous experience in hospitality, catering, retail or a café environment is preferred.
Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial, but we would also consider someone with the right attitude, experience and ability to take ownership of the role.
