Excell Supply is recruiting a compassionate, enthusiastic, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming primary school in Widnes. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and help them thrive in an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with additional needs. You will help create a positive learning environment, promote independence, and support pupils both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
- Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
- Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Encourage pupil engagement and participation in classroom activities.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals where required.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children, preferably within a primary school setting.
- Experience supporting children with SEN, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- The ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Qualifications
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.
- Relevant SEN training or experience.
- First Aid qualification (desirable but not essential).
