Applications are invited for three 12‑month fixed‑term Undergraduate Clinical Teaching Fellow posts based at the Kingston Hospital Education Centre. These roles offer an excellent opportunity to combine clinical practice with a substantial commitment to undergraduate medical education within a supportive teaching environment.
The post holder will be involved in the education of medical undergraduates from City St George’s University of London Medical School. Responsibilities will include the delivery of bedside teaching, small‑group tutorials, simulation‑based education, and participation in a range of structured learning activities. Over the course of the year, post holders will also support key academic events such as careers fairs, undergraduate examinations, and medical school interview panels..

Each post is full‑time (40 hours per week) and comprises a defined balance of clinical duties and protected teaching time. There is no on‑call commitment associated with these roles.
If the successful candidate wishes to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in Education there will be time in their job plan to work towards it and a contribution from the Medical Education Department towards funding.
The successful candidate will play an important role in teaching and coordinating medical students from City St George’s MBBS programmes on rotation at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Teaching will include bedside teaching sessions, tutorials, mock OSCEs, simulation sessions and involvement in the hospital Grand Round. Students will be taught examination and history taking skills as well as core generic knowledge such as x-ray interpretation. The successful candidate will take a part in delivering student inductions, alongside the Medical Undergraduate Coordinator.
Student wellbeing is a priority within our team and the teaching fellow is key to ensuring that students are supported. The teaching fellow will provide a point of contact for students and the role includes answering queries from students (both face to face and by email) about their placement.
The post holder will work in the Undergraduate Education Team at Kingston Hospital. The team includes the Undergraduate Tutor/Sub Dean, two teaching fellows covering medicine and surgery, the Medical Undergraduate Coordinator and administrative staff. The team meets monthly via MS Teams to review feedback and discuss the teaching programmes.
This job will also require liaison with St George’s, University of London, by attending Committee Meetings and Clinical Teaching Fellow meetings and attend training days at St George’s Medical School.
