Our Story
As one of the fastest-growing retailers of musical instruments and equipment, Gear4music is proud to be at the forefront of the music industry. We are more than just a retailer. We are a community of music enthusiasts who are committed to providing the best possible online shopping experience for our customers. Our passion for music drives us to constantly innovate and improve our offerings, and we are always looking for talented individuals who share our vision.
This is a part-time position (5.5 hours a week.) You will be required to work Saturdays (9.45-4.45pm).
There is also potential to work extra hours providing holiday cover as and when needed.
We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Showroom Assistant to join our team. You'll be the friendly face that welcomes customers into our showroom, helping them find the right products and ensuring every visit is a positive, memorable experience.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for musical instruments and equipment who enjoys sharing their knowledge and delivering outstanding customer service.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate is passionate about music and enjoys helping others. You'll be someone who can quickly absorb and retain product knowledge, thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, and works well as part of a team.
Full on-the-job training will be provided, but an interest in musical instruments and music technology, along with a willingness to learn, is essential.
What you will do
As a Showroom Assistant, you'll play a key role in creating an exceptional customer experience by:
-
Welcoming customers into the showroom and providing friendly, knowledgeable service.
-
Advising customers on a wide range of musical instruments, equipment, and accessories.
-
Demonstrating instruments and musical equipment to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
-
Assisting with stock control and inventory management.
-
Maintaining a well-stocked, organised, and visually appealing showroom.
-
Resolving customer queries and service issues professionally and efficiently.
-
Supporting customers with purchases across all departments and product categories.
What your skill set may look like
While we have an idea of the skills we're looking for, we value enthusiasm, potential, and diverse experiences just as much as previous experience. If you're excited about the role but don't meet every requirement, we'd still encourage you to apply—you could be exactly who we're looking for.
Ideally, you'll have:
-
A good general knowledge of musical instruments, equipment, and accessories.
-
A passion for music and an eagerness to continue learning about our products.
-
A confident, friendly, and approachable manner with customers and colleagues.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Good technical understanding of musical instruments and music equipment.
-
Experience presenting products with a strong eye for detail.
-
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet applications.
-
Previous retail or customer service experience is desirable but not essential.
What we'll give you
Alongside the benefit of working with a fantastic bunch of talented people, we are committed to providing a well-rounded benefits package that includes development opportunities and support for your wellbeing:
-
Generous discount scheme across our full range of music and home entertainment products.
-
Employee Assistance Programme, offering 24/7 caring & compassionate support across a wide range of areas.
-
Access to 30 qualified Mental Health First Aiders across the business, demonstrating our commitment to prioritising mental health & wellbeing support as a ‘Mindful Employer’.
-

Plus the following: employee referral scheme, employer pension scheme, corporate eyecare vouchers, cycle to work scheme, company sick pay scheme, enhanced maternity, paternity & adoption pay, annual flu vaccinations, access to the 26-day per annum WFH policy where job roles permit.
We have an open, collaborative, and friendly culture, and offer a supportive learning environment for people to grow and develop a career with us.
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation, in line with the Equality Act 2010.
