Builders Merchants Yard Supervisor
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Yard Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy builders merchants yard. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, organisation, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, organise, and support yard staff to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the yard.
- Assist customers in the yard, providing a professional, friendly, and helpful service at all times.
- Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping, stock control, and yard organisation.
- Prepare and manage works orders for customer deliveries, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Monitor and check stock levels, reporting discrepancies and assisting with stock management procedures.
- Receive, unload, and accurately check incoming deliveries, ensuring stock is correctly stored and rotated within designated locations.
- Allocate and oversee daily tasks to ensure operational requirements are met efficiently.
- Work closely with the Branch Manager to support the effective running and continuous improvement of yard operations.
- Ensure daily forklift,side-loader, teletruck and saws inspections are completed in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
- Report any vehicle, equipment, or safety concerns promptly to the Branch Manager and submit completed inspection records on a weekly basis.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all company policies and health and safety regulations.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous supervisory experience within a builders merchants, warehouse, yard, or similar operational environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Good understanding of stock control and goods-in procedures.
- Forklift / Combilift licence essential.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads.
- A proactive approach with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5.00pm
- 1 weekend in 4: Saturday 7.30am to 4.00pm, Sunday 10.00am to 4.00pm
