Operations Coordinator – Customer Service & Warehouse
Wharfeside Hire | Full-time / Part-time considered
Wharfeside Hire is a growing catering equipment hire business supplying events, venues and hospitality customers across Yorkshire.
We’re looking for a practical, organised and dependable person to become a key part of our day-to-day operation.
This is a genuinely varied role. You might spend part of the day answering customer enquiries and preparing orders, and the rest working alongside the team processing returned equipment through our wash facility, handling cutlery crockery, glassware, linen and anything else you may need for an event. All items leave the warehouse table ready and are returned dirty and used.
This is not a desk-only office role. We are a small, hands-on team and everyone gets involved in making the operation work.
What you'll be doing
- Answering customer enquiries by phone, email and in person
- Helping customers with straightforward questions about their orders and our service
- Preparing quotations, bookings and basic order amendments
- Supporting the day-to-day administration of the business
- Working hands-on within our wash facility, processing used/dirty catering equipment returned from events
- Checking, counting and quality-controlling equipment before it goes back into stock
- Helping organise and coordinate the wash-line workload
- Supporting stock checks and general warehouse operations
- Helping prepare equipment and orders during busy periods
- Working with seasonal and temporary team members during our peak summer season
- Keeping our systems and records accurate and up to date
- Identifying simple ways we can improve how we work
- Getting involved wherever needed to help the wider team deliver a great service
Who we're looking for
You don't necessarily need experience in the events or hire industry. We're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude.
You'll ideally be:
- Organised and comfortable juggling different tasks
- Confident speaking to customers on the phone
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- Practical and happy to work in a physical, hands-on environment
- Reliable and able to take ownership of your work
- Someone who notices when something isn't right and does something about it
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a small team
- Happy to move between the office and warehouse as the business requires
- Interested in taking on more responsibility as you develop
The opportunity
We see this as more than simply filling a vacancy.
Initially, we need a strong and dependable operator who can work across both customer service and warehouse operations and become someone we can rely upon within the business.
For the right person, there is genuine scope for the role to develop as Wharfeside Hire grows.
That could mean taking greater responsibility for our wash facility and seasonal team, developing towards a Team Leader position, or progressing further into the customer service and administrative side of the business.
We don't expect you to arrive knowing everything. What matters is that you're willing to learn, take responsibility and get stuck in.
Working pattern
We're open to discussing the right working pattern with the right person.
The business is seasonal, with our busiest period running through the spring and summer. We would therefore consider someone looking for a strong part-time position initially, with the potential for increased hours and progression towards full-time employment as the role and business develop.
If you enjoy variety, like being useful, and would rather have a role where no two days are exactly the same than sit behind a desk all day, we'd like to hear from you.
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
Benefits:
Work Location: In person
