Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days on-siteJob DescriptionWe are seeking Stress Engineers, Senior Stress Engineers, and Lead Stress Engineers to join the engineering team of a leading global aerospace organisation based in Cwmbran, South Wales.The role involves working on the development and certification of advanced First Class and Business Class aircraft seating and interior products. Engineers will apply core structural engineering skills throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept development and hand calculations through to FEA modelling, analysis, design iteration, and certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations and structural analysis from first principles.
- Conduct hand calculations to assess and validate engineering concepts.
- Build and run FEA models to support design development and certification.
- Perform linear and non-linear finite element analysis.
- Conduct static and dynamic structural analysis.
- Perform multi-body dynamic analysis where applicable.
- Analyse design iterations and provide engineering recommendations.
- Support the development, verification, and certification of aircraft seating structures.
- Work with high-performance steels, corrosion-resistant steels, aluminium, and composite materials.
- Analyse monolithic and sandwich panel structures.
- Work closely with design and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Apply aerospace standards, regulations, and certification requirements.
- Contribute to continuous product development and engineering improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Engineering qualification with strong knowledge of engineering principles and first-principles analysis.
- Strong experience in hand calculations and concept evaluation.
- Experience with FEA/FEM and structural analysis.
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Linear / Non-Linear Implicit FEA
- Multi-Body Dynamic Analysis
- Non-Linear Explicit FEA
- Static Structural Analysis
- Dynamic Structural Analysis
- Experience with relevant engineering software and solvers, such as:
- Altair Radioss
- HyperCrash
- HyperMesh
- HyperView
- OptiStruct
- MSC Nastran
- SimSolid
- MotionSolve
- Experience analysing structures manufactured from high-performance steels, corrosion-resistant steels, aluminium, and composite materials.
- Experience with monolithic and sandwich panel structures.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of aerospace regulations, industry standards, and certification requirements.
- Knowledge of EASA/FAA Part 25 requirements.
- Familiarity with Boeing and Airbus specifications.
- Knowledge of Aerospace Standards, Advisory Circulars (ACs), and Aerospace Recommended Practices (ARPs).
- Knowledge of aerospace material and component testing standards.
- Understanding of post-processing methods, including ASTM standards and B-Basis calculations.
- Project management experience.
- Programming experience using VBA, Python, or similar languages.
- Previous experience in aerospace, aircraft interiors, aircraft seating, or other highly regulated industries.
