Built on over 40 years of heritage, Trenchers combines traditional values with a modern dining experience, and we are now expanding with an exciting new 100-cover restaurant in Bowness-on-Windermere. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef to join an award-winning brand at an exciting stage of growth.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, service, and hygiene. You will lead by example, motivate the kitchen team, and help deliver an exceptional dining experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes to Trenchers' exceptional quality standards.
- Supervise, train, and motivate junior chefs and kitchen staff.
- Ensure food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP procedures are maintained at all times.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise waste.
- Maintain consistency during high-volume service while ensuring excellent attention to detail.
- Assist with menu development, recipe implementation, and quality control.
- Step into the Head Chef's role in their absence and ensure the smooth running of the kitchen.
About You
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Chef de Partie looking to step up.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- Passion for producing high-quality food with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen best practices.
- Calm, organised, and able to perform under pressure.
- Flexible and committed to delivering outstanding standards.
