General Manager – New Opening
Tapas Restaurant & Cocktail Bar | Queen Square
We’re opening an exciting new tapas-style restaurant and cocktail bar in Queen square , Liverpool city Center and we’re looking for a hands-on General Manager to lead the launch and take full ownership of the day-to-day operation.
This is not a clipboard management role.
We’re looking for a leader who is part of the service, part of the team, and visible on the floor someone who thrives in a busy hospitality environment and leads by example.
Our venues are built around great food, quality cocktails, relaxed energy, and genuine hospitality. We want someone who can bring structure, leadership, and personality to the business while maintaining high operational and commercial standards.
The Role
As General Manager, you’ll take ownership of the restaurant from opening through to daily operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the restaurant through its opening and establishing strong operational foundations
- Running busy services and setting the standard on the floor
- Building, training, and developing a high-performing team
- Creating effective rotas and managing labour and wage percentages
- Owning stock control, ordering, and waste reduction
- Protecting and improving food and wet GP
- Driving consistency across food, cocktails, and service
- Managing team performance and maintaining high standards
- Handling guest feedback and resolving issues confidently and professionally
- Working closely with the owners on performance, strategy, and growth
- Delivering accurate operational reporting and maintaining accountability
You’ll have real autonomy within clear business expectations, with the opportunity to help shape the culture and direction of a growing independent brand.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone with:
- Previous General Manager or senior hospitality management experience
- A strong background in high-volume food and drink operations
- Experience in cocktail-led, premium casual dining, or similar environments
- Proven experience leading and developing large teams
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence managing KPIs
- Experience managing labour, stock, GP, and overall profitability
- Confidence with recruitment, training, performance management, and disciplinary processes
- A hands-on leadership style with zero ego
- Energy, personality, and a genuine passion for hospitality
This role will not suit someone looking for a purely administrative or office-based management position.
We want someone who enjoys being on the floor, getting stuck in, and setting the standard through their own actions.

- 48-hour contract
- £35,000–£40,000 salary, dependent on experience

Pay: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
