Summary:
Leeds Jewish Welfare Board (LJWB) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Older Adults & Holocaust Survivor Community Engagement Worker to deliver community-based support across Leeds.
Join us and help Holocaust survivors and older adults live well, stay connected and remain independent.
Please note: This is not a residential care, home care or personal care role. It is a community caseload management role, supporting Holocaust survivors, older adults, people living with dementia, and those experiencing loneliness, isolation or declining wellbeing.
We're looking for a compassionate and proactive individual to join our team and provide personalised advocacy to Holocaust survivors, helping them remain connected, independent and engaged in their communities.
Alongside a specialist caseload of Holocaust survivors, you'll support older adults living with dementia and memory loss, helping people and their families navigate challenges, access services and maintain their wellbeing. You'll also play an important role in helping individuals transition safely from hospital back into community life.
What You'll Do

Build trusted relationships with Holocaust survivors and older adults and reduce isolation.
- Manage a community-based caseload and deliver person-centred support.
- Support Holocaust survivors, people living with dementia and their carers.
- Co-create personalised support plans
- Deliver community activities and wellbeing support
- You'll support safe and positive transitions across hospital, community and residential care settings.
- Reduce loneliness and social isolation through activities, events and community connections.
- Work closely with families, health professionals and community partners.
We're Looking For Someone Who

Has deep empathy and understanding of the specific challenges faced by older adults and Holocaust survivors
- Has experience providing culturally respectful, trauma-informed care helping individuals stay connected, independent and valued
- Has experience supporting older people in health, social care, community or voluntary settings.
- Understands trauma, dementia and person-centred support.
- Builds strong relationships and communicates with empathy and confidence.
- Is passionate about improving the lives of Holocaust survivors and older people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of local resources and services available to older adults and Holocaust survivors.
- A relevant qualification in social care, health, or a related field is desirable but not essential
