About THA
At THA Football Centres, we believe a child's first experience of football should be positive, engaging and fun.
Our 2–4 Parent & Toddler programme introduces young children to football through play-based activities that develop movement, coordination, confidence, social skills and a love for being active.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Lead Football Coach to take responsibility for delivering our Saturday morning sessions at Horsforth School.
This is an opportunity for a coach who wants to develop their career within a professional coaching environment. You will receive structured training, ongoing CPD, coaching feedback and support from the wider THA coaching team.
The Role
As Lead Coach, you will take responsibility for planning and delivering high-quality sessions for children aged 2–4 alongside their parent or guardian.
You will create a fun, energetic and welcoming environment where children feel comfortable exploring football and movement at their own pace.
You will also be responsible for maintaining THA's coaching standards and representing the organisation professionally to parents and families.
Key Responsibilities
Session Delivery
- Lead fun, engaging and age-appropriate sessions for children aged 2–4.
- Deliver sessions in line with THA's coaching curriculum and philosophy.
- Develop fundamental movement skills including running, jumping, balancing and coordination.
- Introduce basic football skills such as kicking, stopping, dribbling and ball familiarity.
- Adapt activities to suit different ages, abilities and confidence levels.
- Keep sessions energetic, structured and enjoyable.
Parent & Child Engagement
- Build positive relationships with children and parents.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with parents.
- Encourage parents to actively participate in their child's development.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for every family.
- Help parents understand how activities support their child's development.
Group Management
- Maintain the attention and engagement of young children.
- Use enthusiasm, creativity and personality to bring sessions to life.
- Manage transitions between activities effectively.
- Create clear routines that help children understand what is expected.
- Respond patiently and positively to different behaviours and needs.
Session Organisation
- Arrive prepared and ready to coach.
- Set up and pack away equipment.
- Ensure sessions run on time and to THA standards.
- Maintain high standards of organisation and professionalism.
Coaching Development
At THA, we don't simply put coaches on a pitch and leave them to it.
You will receive:
- Structured coach training.

- Coach metrics to monitor your performance and development.
- Mentoring from experienced THA coaches.
- Opportunities to take on additional coaching responsibility.
You will be expected to actively engage with feedback and take responsibility for your own development.
Safeguarding & Safety
- Maintain a safe environment for all participants.
- Follow THA safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
- Ensure equipment is safe and appropriate.
- Follow THA policies and operational standards.
- Report any safeguarding or welfare concerns appropriately.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle – essential.
- Experience working with young children or a strong understanding of early years environments.
- Strong communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Positive, energetic and patient.
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic.
- Willingness to complete THA training and CPD.
- Passion for developing young children through football and physical activity.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- FA Introduction to Coaching Football / FA Level 1 or higher.
- Experience coaching football.
- Experience working with children aged 2–5.
- First Aid qualification.
- Safeguarding qualification or relevant experience.
- Experience working with parents and young children in a group environment.
Qualifications are important, but we're particularly interested in the right attitude, personality and willingness to develop.
