JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: HEALTH CARE SUPPORT WORKER/
HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT
REPORTS TO: LEAD NURSE & PRACTICE MANAGER
The position available is across a range of hours 4-5 days per week. We are seeking a minimum of 24 hours up to 32 hours per week, with additional overtime available.
Starting time 8.30 or 9:00 and finishing time will typically be 17:30 or 18:00.
Hours will range Monday – Friday with no weekend cover.
There will be a standard shift working pattern with some flexibility required during periods of colleagues leave.

Job Summary:
- The Health care assistant provides an important service for patients by assisting the medical personnel in the care of practice patients to including health screening and patient education. The Health care assistant also supports the delivery of the service by providing some administrative duties such as ordering clinical supplies.
- A name badge and Practice uniform must be worn at all times, which will be supplied by the practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- New patient registration checks, including completing any necessary paperwork and making any necessary claims to the Health Authority and referrals within the Practice
- Patient health checks
- Patient clinical observation-BP Monitoring, pulse rate, temperature.
- Urinalysis
- Weight monitoring, height, calculate BMI
- Patient education and health promotion, smoking cessation
- Basic wound care following a nursing care plan
- Administration of some injections/vaccines under a Patient specific direction
- Act as a chaperone for GP/ Nurse

Additional Duties and responsibilities after appropriate training
· ECG
· Doppler
· Assisting GP with Minor Op and Contraception Clinics
· Tissue Viability and post-operative care
· Phlebotomy
· Chronic Disease Management
· Injection/Vaccination administration
Administration
· Carry out tasks asked by the Lead Nurse or practice manager
· Ensure accurate and timely notes of all consultations and treatments recorded
· Ensure clinical computer system is kept up to date
· Monitor and record fridge temperatures using USB data loggers
· Check and replace sharps bins/PPE/curtains as required

Pay: £13.20-£14.00 per hour
