Overview
We’re looking for a reliable, energetic and practical Kitchen Porter / Driver / Operations Assistant to join our team at The Base Bar.
This is much more than a traditional pot-wash role. You’ll play an important part in keeping our busy café and kitchen running smoothly, as well as supporting our corporate catering operation and completing local food deliveries.
Our operation includes a busy breakfast and brunch café, takeaway and delivery orders, baking and food production, corporate lunches and ad-hoc buffet catering. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in keeping things organised and is happy to turn their hand to different tasks throughout the day.
What you'll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Keeping on top of washing-up throughout the day, including crockery, utensils, trays and kitchen equipment
- Keeping the kitchen, wash-up and back-of-house areas clean, safe and organised
- Helping to pack and organise our daily corporate lunch orders
- Completing our regular corporate lunch delivery at approximately 10:30am
- Delivering occasional corporate buffet orders
- Supporting the kitchen team with basic food preparation where trained
- Helping pack takeaway and delivery-platform orders during busy periods
- Restocking the kitchen and front-of-house team
- Receiving and moving stock and deliveries
- Managing waste, bins and recycling
- Supporting the team through our busy breakfast and lunchtime service
- Completing daily and scheduled cleaning tasks
- Helping with general operational duties wherever an extra pair of hands is needed
About you

- Professional and friendly when representing The Base Bar at our corporate clients' premises
- Comfortable handling and delivering food safely
A valid driving licence is required for this role. Any applicable company vehicle/insurance requirements will also need to be met.
Previous hospitality, kitchen porter, catering or delivery experience would be useful, but attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are equally important.
Hours & pay
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week
Working pattern: Monday–Friday, 09:00-15:00
The role is predominantly daytime, making it a great option for someone looking for hospitality work without regular evening shifts.
Our busiest period is around breakfast and lunchtime, and our corporate lunch delivery normally leaves at approximately 10:30am.
Flexibility & teamwork
The Base Bar operates across café service, food production, takeaway and delivery platforms, baking and corporate catering. Everyone in our team is expected to work flexibly within their skills and training and support colleagues when things get busy.
You'll be encouraged to learn different aspects of the operation, help where needed and take collective responsibility with the rest of the team for maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, safety and customer service.
