Job Summary
The Royal Lion Hotel, Tenby are seeking a motivated Trainee Chef / Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food and eager to develop their culinary skills in a professional environment. The successful candidate will be involved in various aspects of food preparation and cooking, gaining valuable experience in a busy kitchen setting. Prior kitchen experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided to help you grow into a skilled chef. This paid position is ideal for those looking to start or advance their career within the hospitality industry.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Support the team in meal assembly and presentation to ensure high-quality service
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all staff
- Help with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage of ingredients
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the kitchen by supporting other team members as needed
- Ensure food safety standards are consistently met throughout all stages of food handling and preparation
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
- Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, or catering environment is advantageous but not mandatory
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Enthusiasm for learning new culinary skills and techniques
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings and weekends if necessary
