Job Introduction

We’re looking for a professional and people-focused Security Officer to join our team at the University of Greenwich – Avery Hill Campus, supporting a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll combine vigilance with approachability, providing visible security, responsive support, and a positive first impression every day.
As a Security Officer, you will be at the heart of campus life, ensuring a safe, secure, and positive environment. We’re seeking someone who is proactive, professional, and passionate about delivering excellent service.

What you’ll do:

Acting as a first point of contact for visitors and contractors, delivering a professional and friendly welcome

Carrying out patrols, monitoring CCTV, and securing buildings and grounds

Responding swiftly and effectively to incidents, alarms, and emergencies
-
Managing access control, key systems, and visitor logs
-
Supporting incident management and ensuring accurate, timely reporting

Working collaboratively with the Sodexo team and client stakeholders

Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards
What you bring:
-
Valid SIA Licence
-
3–5 years’ experience in a security role
-
Strong understanding of CCTV, alarms, and security systems
-
Excellent communication and customer service skills
-
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
-
High attention to detail with strong report-writing skills
-
Good IT literacy and understanding of data protection
Desirable:
-
CCTV Licence
-
First Aid and/or Fire Warden certification
-
Knowledge of BS7858:2013 standards
