East Sussex Hearing is an independent charity based in Eastbourne. We have been serving the deaf and hard of hearing community throughout East Sussex for over 20 years. Offering advice and practical support so people can live full, active lives and be part of their community.
We are currently looking for a Hearing Loss Assistant to work alongside other volunteers.
Accountable to: Volunteer Manager
Location: Battle, East Sussex
Hours: Depending on your availability this is an ongoing role. Usually a Thursday morning, typical commitment of 2-3 hrs per month (more if desired)
What you’ll be doing
Helping to deliver a friendly and supportive hearing aid maintenance service and providing hearing loss information & advice in your local area.
Specific Tasks & Responsibilities
- Meet and greet members of the public
- Keep written records of help given
- Provide general hearing loss information and advice, including signposting to other services
Plus, optional opportunity to train to provide these additional services
- Check and clean hearing aids
- Replace hearing aid tubing
- Check hearing aid batteries and issue replacement batteries
- Provide basic guidance on use and care of hearing aids

Training & Support
East Sussex Hearing will provide relevant training at our Eastbourne Centre and locally in Battle.
Please note that you need to be 18 or over to apply for this role and a DBS check is required (no cost to applicant).
