About the Role:
As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you’ll work closely with our veterinary nurses and surgeons in wards and theatres, providing essential hands-on support to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of our in-patients and smooth daily-running of our services. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with procedures in our theatre and imaging departments
- Providing care to in-patients
- Ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic hospital environment through infection control measures and regular cleaning schedules
- Supporting the surgical team by preparing equipment, decontaminating, sterilising and maintaining high standards for procedures
- Handling and restraining patients safely and compassionately
About You:
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, uses their initiative and is committed to providing consistently high standards of patient care. To succeed in this role you’ll need to be:
- Dynamic, well-organised and detail-oriented
- Able to demonstrate empathy, remain calm under pressure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- A strong team player who values collaboration
- Confident in both verbal and written communication
- Comfortable using computers and maintaining accurate records
Experience in a similar role is preferred with experience of a high-level, surgical practice (advanced soft tissue surgery, dentistry, orthopaedics etc.) ideal. This role also offers a potential pathway to a successful career in veterinary nursing for those wishing to progress along this route.
What we offer:
· Salary in the range of £27 000 per annum (pro-rata and commensurate with experience)
· 31 days holiday (pro-rata), rising to 34 after 5 years’ service.
