Engineering & Warehouse Operative
Permanent, full time: Monday to Thursday 08.00am to 16.30pm, and Friday 08.00 to 15.30pm.
The ALH Group are currently recruiting for an Engineering & Warehouse Operative to join our busy team at Pipe Equipment Specialists Ltd based in Thornaby, by means of a full-time permanent contract.
Working alongside the Operations Manager and other team members, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of product assembly, including quality control, from parts received to despatch of products.
Key Duties will include:
- Accurately work from engineering drawings, assembly instructions and manager guidance to assemble components into products to the required specification.
- Safely use power tools, hand tools and equipment following safe working procedures as part of daily operations.
- Detailed assembly work of tightly toleranced machined parts into various sub-assemblies.
- Occasionally perform simple bench tests of newly built products.
- Maintain all tools, equipment, and work areas so they are in a clean and tidy condition and fit for purpose at all times.
- Undertake basic MIG welding and spray painting of metal parts.
- Despatching and unloading of stock and pallets across the warehouse.
- Booking goods in as they arrive, checking deliveries against the relevant paperwork and reporting any discrepancies.
- Packing customer orders for dispatch.
- Adherence to health & safety standards.
- Other general warehouse duties and tasks as directed by the Operations Manager. This will include sweeping up from time to time.
- Customer and supplier collections and deliveries using the company van.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Experience of assembling mechanical components.
- The ability to safely work with hand and power tools.
- Be able to interpret basic mechanical assembly drawings.
- A good standard of numeracy skills, and verbal and written English.
- Be able to interpret and follow written and oral instructions.
- Great communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong emphasis on quality.
- To work under own initiative with minimal supervision.
Quality control, attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving are key elements of this role. Training will be given.
A valid full driving licence, valid forklift truck licence, and experience in an engineering, mechanical assembly or metal fabrication type role would be an advantage.
