About the role
Balfour Beatty currently has an opportunity for a Truck Driver to work on the M25, one of the busiest sections of road in the UK and one of the most important!
As part of the Connect Plus Services business based in Dartford, you will be responsible for assisting in the efficient service delivery of the M25 DBFO Network by undertaking a wide range of incident response, hazard clearance, network maintenance and much more.
Working arrangements (shift work, need for travel etc):
- Expected to work the shift pattern (days, nights, weekend and bank holidays) to meet operational requirements.
- Shift pattern is 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off, to include weekends and bank holidays.
- Reasonable level of travel around M25 network and between depots.
- Travel to meetings, training and works sites outside normal operational area.
- Expected to participate in out of hours working to fulfil Winter Maintenance.
What you'll be doing
- Respond to road traffic incidents, hazards and collisions, providing expert recovery support and advice on scene.
- Safely recover light and heavy vehicles in line with CPS policies, procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
- Help clear incidents quickly and efficiently to minimise disruption and keep the network moving.
- Complete accurate reports, records and data entry using mobile communication devices.
- Carry out routine vehicle and equipment inspections, maintaining compliance with legislation and CPS procedures.
- Keep driving records up to date and ensure all equipment is safe, serviceable and ready for use.
- Identify and report issues that may impact the safe operation of the road network.
- Take responsibility for CPS assets, including recovery vehicles, tablets, radios and specialist equipment.
- Report defects, replenish stock and maintain recovery equipment to operational standards
- Participate in Winter Service rota as required.
- Attend training courses as required.

Who we're looking for
Qualifications (Essential):
- UK Driving Licence, minimum category C+E (LGV Class 1)
- IVR 1,2 and3
- Driver Qualification Card
- CSCS Operative Card
- Appropriate manual handling qualification
- Appropriate lifting qualification
Experience
- Recovering heavy and light vehicles on a live motorway or All Purpose Trunk Road (APTR) network
- Proficient in the safe working practices of recovering heavy and light vehicles using full range of equipment on the recovery vehicles, underlift, winch, crane etc
- Experience of working in a similar traffic / transport / highways / recovery role are preferred.
Essential Criteria
- Successfully pass the Security check as part of recruitment process
- Successfully pass the annual driving license check
- Successfully pass pre employment Drug & Alcohol test and further test upon request
- Successfully pass the Company’s health screening programme
