Job Overview
We are an expanding manufacturing business introducing a second shift to support our growing production schedule. We are seeking a proactive and dependable Production Shift Team Leader / Supervisor to manage a small team within our dynamic warehouse environment.
This is a working supervisor role that blends hands-on production with team leadership. Alongside guiding, motivating, and organizing a small team to meet daily targets, you will actively participate in production—specifically focusing on folding and processing fabric with high speed, accuracy, and consistency. The successful candidate will ensure that product quality, safety standards, and efficiency are maintained seamlessly throughout the production cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
- Daily Supervision: Supervise, support, and direct a small team of production operatives during the second shift.
- Workflow Coordination: Plan and allocate daily tasks to ensure the shift runs efficiently, minimizing downtime and meeting production targets.
- Training & Support: Onboard and train new team members on standard operating procedures, fabric handling techniques, and safety standards.
- Performance & Morale: Foster a positive, collaborative, and focused team environment, addressing any immediate workflow blockages or performance issues.
Hands-on Production & Operations
- Fabric Processing: Lead by example on the line, folding, finishing, and processing fabric materials quickly and to a high standard of consistency.
- Assembly & Technical Support: Assist with assembly tasks and use hand/power tools to perform basic machinery adjustments, minor maintenance, or assembly work as required.
- Quality & Safety Oversight: Conduct quality checks at various stages of production to ensure strict standards are met. Ensure the team maintains a clean, organized work area in full compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Reporting: Track shift output, log completed work, and promptly report any equipment malfunctions, material shortages, or safety hazards.
Experience & Skills
- Leadership Experience: Previous experience supervising, leading, or coordinating a small team in a manufacturing, warehouse, or fast-paced operational environment is highly desirable.
- Fabric & Textile Knowledge: A background or keen understanding of fabric handling, textiles, or finishing is a significant advantage.
- Strong Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain tasks, motivate others, and give constructive feedback.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and the ability to maintain consistent results while working at speed.
- Problem-Solving Skills: A practical approach to troubleshooting basic machinery issues or resolving workflow disruptions on the fly.
Pay: £12.70-£13.50 per hour
