Teaching Assistant – SEND School
We are partnering with a supportive, welcoming, and inclusive all-through Special Educational Needs (SEND) School that is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils across all key stages. The school caters for children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex needs, and learning difficulties. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you will help pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom, one-to-one, and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
- Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Monitor and record pupils' progress, providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence in learning.
- Support pupils with communication, sensory, and behavioural needs where required.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), either within a school setting or in a similar support, care, or community-based role.
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, complex needs, or learning difficulties is desirable.
- A recent professional reference that can verify your experience working with children or young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, patient, and proactive approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.

Pay rates are dependent on experience, qualifications, skills, and responsibilities associated with the role.
