We’re looking for a People & Talent Assistant to help create a warm and engaging experience for everyone who joins and works with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. Our people are central to everything we do. Without their passion and commitment, we couldn’t deliver our mission to build a wilder Derbyshire where people and wildlife thrive together.
In this role, you’ll help make sure every colleague feels supported, welcomed and connected to that purpose.
A big part of your role will be supporting bringing our recruitment processes to life. You’ll help craft a smooth, friendly and inclusive experience for candidates - from posting roles and managing applications to coordinating interviews and supporting onboarding. Your work will help ensure that every new starter feels excited to join us and confident in their first steps at the Trust.
You’ll also play an active part in keeping our HR systems accurate and running smoothly and supporting colleagues throughout their journey with the Trust. Whether you’re updating records, answering queries or helping deliver wellbeing and culture initiatives, you’ll be contributing to a positive, consistent experience for everyone.
To be successful, you’ll bring energy, curiosity and a genuine passion for helping people. You’ll enjoy being a friendly point of contact, keeping things organised and contributing to a culture where everyone feels valued and included. With a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and a calm, proactive approach, you’ll help us build a workplace where people can do their best work and feel proud to be part of our mission.
What we can offer you:
- Flexible working options, we have adopted a 9-day working fortnight meaning all full time staff get a non-working Friday every fortnight
- 33 days annual leave including bank holidays, we also have a festive shutdown so all staff get the days between Christmas and New Year off in addition to their leave entitlement
- Sustainable Travel Employer (extra leave granted for staff using more green, sustainable transport)
- 9.5% employer pension contribution
- Electric bike and car salary-sacrifice schemes available
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Life Assurance Scheme
- Personalised Development programme designed to enhance your knowledge and progress your career
- A multi-disciplinary business, with opportunities to work on a wide range of projects, developing your experience and skills
- A close-knit, friendly and supportive team, with a relaxed office atmosphere
- Our Values
- Our work towards a Wilder 2030 is shaped by three core values:
- Collaborative – We work together with colleagues, volunteers and communities because lasting change happens when everyone is involved.
- Curious – We ask questions, explore new ideas and stay open to learning so we can keep improving and adapting for nature.
- Courageous – We take bold action, challenge the status quo and stand up for what wildlife and people need.
If these values feel like you, you’ll thrive here.
We’re looking for someone who is organised, people‑focused and excited about supporting a smooth, positive experience for colleagues and candidates. You don’t need to come with HR or recruitment experience - what matters most is your ability to stay organised, communicate clearly and bring a genuine interest in people and how we support them.
This role might be right for you if:
- You’re a strong communicator who can share clear messages and build positive relationships across the Trust.
- You enjoy supporting others and bring empathy, professionalism and a people‑centred approach to your work.
- You have solid administrative experience, with the ability to manage a varied workload, stay organised and keep a close eye on detail.
- You’re comfortable using digital systems, keeping accurate records and learning new tools as needed - and you’re curious about how HR and recruitment processes work.
- You’re committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and want to help build a workplace where everyone feels welcome and valued
- You’re open to developing your skills and either hold or would be willing to work towards CIPD Level 3 as part of your professional growth.
