We are looking for a passionate and reliable Guitar Instructor / Supervisor to provide individual and small group guitar lessons at a primary school near Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria. This role gives children the opportunity to develop their musical ability, confidence, and appreciation of music while learning guitar in a fun, supportive, and encouraging environment.
Lessons take place once per week (ideally Thursdays but open to another day if not possible), with approximately 2–4 hours of teaching per visit, comprising 30-minute sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and age-appropriate guitar lessons to primary-aged children on a 1-to-1 and small group basis.
- Plan and tailor lessons to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of individual learners.
- Support children in developing musical skills, technique, confidence, and enjoyment of playing the guitar.
- Create a positive and encouraging learning environment that inspires progress and participation.
- Communicate effectively with school staff and, where appropriate, parents regarding pupils’ development and achievements.
- Ensure instruments, resources, and teaching spaces are organised, safe, and prepared for each session.
Experience & Skills
- Experience teaching guitar to children in schools, music centres, clubs, or private tuition settings.
- Ability to engage and motivate young learners in a structured yet enjoyable way.
- Strong English communication skills for working effectively with children, parents, and school staff.
- A background in music education, instrumental tuition, or performance is desirable.
- Relevant music qualifications or teaching experience would be advantageous.
Pay: £22.00 per hour
