Prospect Hospice is seeking a Facilities Apprentice to join our Estates & Facilities team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of maintenance and facilities management activities while completing a recognised apprenticeship programme.
Working alongside experienced facilities professionals, you’ll develop valuable skills in building maintenance, health and safety, compliance, and facilities operations, helping us provide a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment for patients, families, staff, volunteers and visitors.

As a Facilities Apprentice, you will support the Facilities Manager and Facilities Technician in maintaining Prospect Hospice and its associated properties, including our retail locations.
You will gain practical experience in:

Planned preventative maintenance

Facilities support and site upkeep

Supporting contractors and service providers

Health, safety and compliance activities

Record keeping and facilities administration
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll receive on-the-job training, structured learning and ongoing support to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for a successful career in facilities management.

Assist with planned preventative maintenance programmes.

Carry out routine inspections and checks across hospice and retail sites.

Support basic maintenance and repair activities.

Report faults, defects and maintenance concerns.

Help maintain the presentation and functionality of buildings and external areas.

Follow health and safety procedures at all times.

Use tools, equipment and materials safely.

Assist with inspections and safety checks.

Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly.

Assist with preparing areas for contractor visits and works.

Support contractor activities while ensuring site safety requirements are followed.

Learn about contractor management and facilities compliance.

Complete all apprenticeship learning, assessments and study requirements.

Apply learning to practical workplace activities.

Participate in regular supervision, development reviews and training opportunities.

Develop increasing levels of responsibility as your skills grow.

A genuine interest in facilities, maintenance, building services or a related trade.
