Contract: Casual - No guaranteed weekly hours. Shifts will be offered as and when required, including late-nights, early mornings evenings, weekends, bank holidays and special events.

ROLE PURPOSE
As an SIA Licensed Security Officer, you will deliver a professional, proactive and customer-focused security service across The View from The Shard.
Working within a unique environment that combines hospitality, events, visitor attraction and airport-style security screening, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and security of our visitors, colleagues and assets. Responsibilities will include visitor screening, access control, incident response and supporting an exceptional guest experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
You will act as an ambassador for The View from The Shard, demonstrating professionalism, vigilance and exceptional customer service.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Security Screening Operations
- Conduct airport-style visitor screening using security equipment and search procedures.
- Operate walk-through metal detectors, handheld scanners and X-ray screening equipment where trained and authorised.
- Ensure prohibited items are identified and managed in accordance with security procedures.
- Carry out bag searches and security checks respectfully and professionally.
- Maintain vigilance and respond appropriately to suspicious activity or security concerns.
Customer Experience
- Welcome visitors warmly and professionally.
- Provide assistance, directions and information to guests where required.
- Deliver an excellent customer experience whilst maintaining security requirements.
- Resolve customer concerns calmly and professionally.
- Support guests with accessibility requirements and ensure an inclusive visitor experience.
Access Control
- Control access to restricted and operational areas.
- Ensure access control procedures are consistently applied.
Security Monitoring and Patrols
- Conduct regular patrols of public and back-of-house areas.
- Monitor CCTV systems and security alarms where authorised.
- Identify and report safety hazards, maintenance issues or security risks.
- Protect company assets and maintain a secure environment for all occupants.
Incident Management
- Respond to security incidents, emergencies and welfare concerns.
- Assist with emergency evacuation procedures and business continuity arrangements.
- Liaise with emergency services when required.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports.
Out-of-Hours Responsibilities
- Support opening and closing procedures.
- Carry out security checks and inspections during out-of-hours periods.
- Respond to alarm activations and emergency situations.
- Assist with special events and VIP visits as required.
Essential Requirements
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing security environment.
- Knowledge of crowd management and visitor safety procedures.
- Experience operating X-ray and bag screening equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- High levels of integrity, discretion and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience major visitor attractions, events, night clubs and bars.
- CCTV Licence.
- Counter Terrorism Awareness Training.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1.0 – 20.0 per week
