Outdoor Learning Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Location: Plymouth
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 08:30–15:00
Start Date: 7th September 2026
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Outdoor Learning Teaching Assistant to work with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in an outdoor learning environment in Plymouth.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about outdoor education and supporting young people who benefit from hands-on, experiential learning beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs during outdoor learning activities
- Build positive, consistent relationships to promote engagement, confidence, and emotional regulation
- Assist with planning and delivering outdoor learning sessions, including forest school-style activities
- Support behaviour management in line with individual support plans
- Ensure pupil safety and wellbeing at all times
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach
- Enthusiasm for outdoor learning and practical activities
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle(essential)
- GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths (essential)
- Ability to work full time, 5 days per week
