Photo Lab & Production Coordinator
Location: Arbroath, Scotland
Salary: £22,000–£25,000, negotiable depending on experience
Hours: Term-time only (approximately 39 weeks per year), with salary paid monthly over 12 months
Turas Photo Ltd is a leading school photography company, supplying high-quality printed and digital photographs to schools throughout Scotland.
We are looking for a reliable, highly organised and methodical Photo Lab & Production Coordinator to join our Arbroath-based team. This is a new, hands-on role at the centre of our production process, ensuring every order is printed accurately, thoroughly checked, correctly packed and delivered to the correct school, parent or guardian.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day print lab workflow. You will be confident working independently, using sound judgement to help establish an organised and dependable way of working, while keeping in close contact with the business owner when an unusual issue or decision needs input.
Initial training: As the role will begin during our busiest period, initial training and handover may occasionally take place during evenings or weekends, when the business owner is available outside school-photography commitments. These sessions will be arranged in advance and will take place instead of, rather than in addition to, normal working hours. They are included within the advertised salary.
What you’ll do
- Operate photo dry-lab equipment and manage daily print-production batches
- Process and prepare customer orders for printing
- Check that the correct images, quantities and products are printed for every order
- Carry out thorough quality-control checks before orders are packed and dispatched
- Sort, package and label orders accurately for delivery to schools and directly to parents and guardians
- Ensure every order is sent to the correct destination, on time and in excellent condition
- Establish and maintain clear, practical systems for tracking orders, production and dispatches
- Identify potential errors, discrepancies or delays before they affect customers
- Resolve routine issues independently, and promptly refer unusual orders or issues requiring a decision to the business owner
- Keep the lab and production area organised, tidy and efficient
- Respond professionally and promptly to incoming emails and parent enquiries
- Carry out basic image adjustments or retouching where needed; training will be provided for the specific workflow
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Excellent attention to detail and a highly methodical approach to work
- A self-motivated, practical approach, with confidence working independently
- The ability to create and maintain effective systems for managing work accurately
- Good judgement about when to resolve an issue independently and when to seek guidance
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines
- Confidence using computers and learning new software and equipment
- Excellent written communication and customer-service skills
- A reliable, proactive and flexible approach to work
Desirable
- Experience in a production, fulfilment, print, warehouse, dispatch or similarly accuracy-focused environment
- Experience using photo-editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom
- Experience in photo printing, print production or a high-volume order workflow
- Experience in school or volume-photography production
Why join Turas Photo?
- The opportunity to shape and develop a new, important role within the business
- A key position in a supportive, creative and growing company
- A term-time working pattern that supports work-life balance
- Salary spread evenly across 12 months for year-round financial stability
- Training and support in our equipment, systems and business workflow
- The satisfaction of delivering high-quality photography products to schools across Scotland
