Duty Manager

Full-time, 40 hours per week | Competitive salary
Plymouth Central Hotel is seeking a professional, customer-focused Duty Manager to support the smooth day-to-day operation of the hotel and deliver an excellent guest experience.
This is a full-time, rota-based role working 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. You will be required to work weekends and bank holidays as part of the rota.
Working hours
- Early shift: 07:00–15:00
- Late shift: 15:00–23:00
The role
As Duty Manager, you will take responsibility for the hotel during your shift, acting as a key point of contact for guests and colleagues. You will support the team, maintain high operational standards, and respond professionally to any issues that arise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing daily hotel operations during assigned shifts
- Providing a welcoming, efficient and professional service to all guests
- Supporting, guiding and motivating team members across departments
- Handling guest enquiries, feedback and complaints promptly and effectively
- Completing shift handovers, operational checks and relevant administrative duties
- Ensuring health, safety, security and company procedures are followed
- Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming hotel environment
- Supporting the management team to achieve high standards of guest satisfaction
About you
We are looking for someone who is organised, dependable and confident in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. You will have strong communication skills, a positive approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Previous experience within a hotel, hospitality, customer service or supervisory role is desirable, but it is not essential. Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
