The Deputy Manager will work Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. However, the Deputy Manager will be expected to be flexible in their working hours to meet the business needs and cover shortfalls in the rota.
The Deputy Manager will oversee the day-to-day running and operations of the home in the manager’s absence or to cover annual leave of the Manager.
The Deputy Manager will cover on-call duties as part of the management on call rota.

To lead and manage both employees and resources to ensure high standards of services within the home, exceeding regulatory standards.
To support the Registered Manager to be accountable and responsible for the home’s outcomes. This includes the welfare and safety of the young people, the progression of the young people, the management of the staff team and robust monitoring of the work practices of new employees to ensure the home stays viable with the referral process and to maintain standards within the home.
To assist the management of the budget of the home and ensure the business remains viable.

· Have oversight of the home in the absence of the manager.
· Lead on safeguarding incidents.
· Be part of the on-call rota for the home.
Knowledge
· A sound working knowledge of the statutory requirements associated with the residential care of young people. This will include Children’s Homes Regulations, Health and Safety legislation etc.
· Have completed NVQ Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
· Manual Driving License (desirable).
· At least one year’s experience working within a children’s residential setting.
· At least one year’s experience of managing and supervising staff.
· Previous experience of safeguarding young people.
· Experience working with children who may display challenging behaviour.
· An in-depth understanding of the needs of children and young people with EBD/SEMH and how to meet those needs.
· Ability to interact with a range of people/young people.
· Strong communication skills.
· Strong behaviour management skills.
· Strong administration and IT skills.
· Positive role model and an advocate of a positive workforce and culture.
· Flexibility to work shifts including weekends, evenings, and sleep-in duties on a rota system.
· Internal applicants must be currently in a senior residential care role.
The educational and social challenges experienced by children may, at times, give rise to unusual or challenging behaviour which can be very emotionally and physically demanding.
Pay: £37,856.00 per year
