Senior Motor Fraud Claims Handler
Location: Hybrid, North Shields
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
About Us
Collingwood Insurance is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Motor Fraud Claims Handler to join our growing Counter Fraud team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fraud professional to take ownership of a varied caseload of suspected fraudulent motor insurance claims. You'll be responsible for managing claims from initial referral through to resolution, making informed technical decisions and helping to protect the business from fraud.
As a senior member of the team, you'll also play a key role in identifying fraud trends, improving referral quality, supporting colleagues, and contributing to the ongoing development of our fraud strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of up to 150 fraud investigation claims.
- Review and triage fraud referrals, determining the most appropriate investigation strategy.
- Analyse intelligence, evidence and claim information to support robust decision-making.
- Handle claims from cradle to grave, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and prevent claims leakage while maximising fraud savings and repudiation opportunities.
- Accurately record and evidence all indemnity and claims savings achieved.
- Deliver fair customer outcomes while maintaining a strong fraud detection approach.
- Liaise with policyholders, third parties, solicitors, investigators and other stakeholders.
- Provide clear and concise instructions to suppliers and investigation partners.
- Contribute to process improvements, referral quality initiatives and fraud prevention strategies.
- Share knowledge and support the ongoing development of colleagues and the wider fraud function.
- Ensure compliance with Consumer Duty, FCA regulations and company policies.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Proven experience handling fraud investigations within a motor insurance claims environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Indemnity
- Liability
- Credit Hire
- Property Damage
- First-Party Claims
- Personal Injury Claims
- Excellent analytical, investigative and decision-making skills.
- A strong understanding of fraud indicators and intelligence-led investigations.
- Effective claim management skills, including reserving, diary management and customer communication.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and manage service level agreements independently.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A commitment to providing excellent customer service while protecting the business from fraud.
- Experience using fraud intelligence and investigative tools, including the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB).
- Experience reviewing IFB alerts, submitting intelligence and utilising industry fraud databases.
- Knowledge of counter-fraud best practice, emerging fraud trends and intelligence-sharing initiatives.
