Marketing Manager – Timber Division
A rare opportunity to shape a new brand from the ground up and lead the marketing of one of the UK's established timber businesses into its next chapter.
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Marketing Manager to join Haldane Group's Timber Division, based in Salford, Manchester.
Our Timber Division brings together established businesses including GE Robinson, Prowood and Haldane Timber NI, with expertise spanning timber distribution, machining and processing, engineered timber products and value-added timber solutions. We are now entering an exciting period of change. We will be bringing our existing timber businesses together under one new brand, and our incoming Marketing Manager will be at the heart of making that happen.
Working directly with the Managing Director, the Senior Leadership Team and our appointed branding partner, you will be the internal lead for the rebranding programme, helping shape how the new brand is positioned and then ensuring it comes to life across everything from our digital presence and sales materials to signage, photography, communications and customer experience.
At the same time, we will be developing a completely new Timber Division website, and you will act as the business lead and key contact for the web project. You will own the brief, structure, content and customer journey and work with our web partner to deliver a site that doesn't simply look good but helps generate enquiries and supports our sales strategy.
But this isn't just a project role.
Once the new brand is established, you'll own the marketing strategy for the division and help us build a stronger, more visible and more commercially effective presence in the UK timber market.
What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of the Timber Division's marketing activity, including:
- Leading the Timber Division rebrand and brand rollout.
- Leading the new website project from business brief through to launch.
- Developing the division's annual marketing strategy and campaign plan.
- Generating qualified leads and supporting sales conversion.
- Building our position as a trusted technical timber specialist.
- Developing marketing to architects, specifiers, developers, contractors and trade customers.
- Owning LinkedIn, email, SEO, digital campaigns and website content.
- Creating technical content, case studies, blogs, videos and thought-leadership material.
- Developing customer acquisition, retention and reactivation campaigns.
- Coordinating photography, video, PR, exhibitions, events and CPD activity.
- Giving our sales teams the collateral and tools they need to win business.
- Measuring what works and demonstrating the commercial impact of marketing.
Our existing marketing strategy already puts digital engagement, technical expertise, specification marketing, qualified lead generation and repeat business at the centre of our approach. We now need someone with the drive and experience to take that thinking, combine it with the new brand strategy and turn it into delivery.
About you
- You'll be an experienced marketing professional who is equally comfortable discussing brand strategy with an agency, working through website UX with a developer, creating a campaign with the sales team or analysing whether that campaign actually delivered results.
- You'll need strong digital and content skills, excellent project-management capability and, above all, a commercial mindset.
- Experience within timber isn't essential, but experience in construction, building materials, manufacturing, distribution or another technical B2B market would be a significant advantage. Experience marketing to architects and specifiers would also be particularly valuable.
- We are especially interested in candidates who have previously been involved in a rebrand and/or major website project and understand that successful marketing is about much more than producing content – it needs to support sales, generate opportunities and help a business grow.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to inherit something very different from a finished marketing function.
You'll have the chance to create the brand, build the digital platform and influence how we take the combined Timber Division to market for years to come. You'll work closely with the senior leadership team and have genuine ownership of two major transformation projects from the outset.
If you're looking for a Marketing Manager role where you can make a visible difference to both the brand and commercial direction of a business, we'd like to hear from you.
