Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated ALN (Additional Learning Needs) / Behaviour Teaching Assistant to support children with diverse learning requirements, including those with autism and other disabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised support, fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment. This paid role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialised skills within the field of special education and behaviour management, contributing positively to children's educational experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing tailored learning programmes for children with additional needs, including autism and disabilities.
- Support children during classroom activities, ensuring they are engaged and included in lessons.
- Provide behavioural support by encouraging positive behaviour and managing challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- Aid in the development of social skills and independence among pupils through personalised interventions.
- Support with daily routines such as meal times, play activities, and personal care where necessary.
- Observe and record behavioural patterns, communicating relevant information to teaching staff for ongoing assessment.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes the well-being of all pupils.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working with children in educational or care settings, including toddler care, is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and special education practices.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and parents.
- Ability to adapt approaches to meet individual needs and promote positive behavioural outcomes.
- Organised, patient, and empathetic with a genuine passion for supporting children's development.

You’ll Need:
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- EWC registration (or willingness to register)
- A valid Safeguarding certificate (Level 2 or higher)
