Grays Transport is looking for a practical, hands-on and organised individual to join our team as a Yard & Site Coordinator.
This is a varied role that sits at the heart of our operation, supporting the smooth running of the yard, vehicle movements, trailer shunting activities and general site operations. No two days are the same and we are looking for someone who enjoys being active, solving problems and taking pride in maintaining high standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Coordinating vehicle and trailer movements across site.
- Carrying out trailer shunting activities safely and efficiently.
- Moving vehicles and trailers to and from workshops for maintenance, inspections and compliance activities.
- Supporting efficient traffic flow and yard organisation.
- Managing refuse, recycling and waste collections across site.
- Coordinating returned goods and disposal activities.
- Maintaining site housekeeping and presentation standards.
- Carrying out minor repairs, maintenance and handyman duties.
- Assisting with site improvement projects and operational initiatives.
- Supporting the wider operation wherever required.
About The Role
This is not a desk-based position.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working across the yard and operational areas, ensuring vehicles, trailers and site facilities are maintained to a high standard and ready to support the business.
The role would suit somebody who enjoys variety and is comfortable turning their hand to a range of responsibilities. One day may involve trailer shunting and coordinating vehicle movements, whilst the next could involve managing waste collections, carrying out minor repairs or supporting wider operational projects.
We are looking for somebody who takes pride in maintaining a clean, organised and professional working environment and enjoys being part of a busy logistics operation.
What We're Looking For
- Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence.
- Experience within transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Practical and proactive approach to problem solving.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Reliable, dependable and self-motivated.
- Positive attitude and willingness to get involved wherever required.
Desirable Experience
- Previous shunting or vehicle movement experience.
- Forklift Truck Licence.
- Experience managing site facilities, waste or returns processes.
- Basic maintenance, repair or handyman experience.

Pay: £29,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
