Overview
Forest Freight Ltd is seeking an organised, reliable and experienced Accounts Assistant to join our busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background who enjoys working in a varied role and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the accounts function, with responsibility for purchase and sales ledger management, payroll processing and general accounts administration. Previous experience using Sage accounting software is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Purchase Ledger, including:
- Processing supplier invoices.
- Reconciling supplier statements.
- Preparing supplier payment runs.
- Resolving invoice and payment queries.
- Manage the Sales Ledger, including:
- Raising sales invoices.
- Allocating customer receipts.
- Chasing outstanding debts where required.
- Maintaining accurate customer account records.
- Process weekly and/or monthly payroll accurately and on time.
- Maintain Sage accounting records, ensuring all financial information is accurate and up to date.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end accounting processes.
- Maintain accurate filing systems and financial documentation.
- Liaise professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues regarding account queries.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance department.
- Undertake any other accounting or administrative duties as reasonably required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of Sage Accounts.
- Experience managing both Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger.
- Experience processing payroll.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
