About the role
We are looking for an experienced Electrical & Electronics Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair the machinery at our crisps manufacturing facility.
The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of PLC-controlled panels, industrial electrical systems, Fabcon frying equipment, and Ishida and TNA weighing and packaging machines. You will help keep the production line running safely and efficiently while reducing breakdowns and downtime.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults on production machinery.
- Maintain PLC-controlled panels and troubleshoot PLC inputs, outputs, sensors, relays, and control circuits.
- Service, maintain, and repair Fabcon industrial fryers and their associated electrical and control systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Ishida weighing and packaging equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot TNA weighing, seasoning, distribution, and packaging equipment.
- Work with multihead weighers, bagmakers, filling systems, sealers, conveyors, labelling machines, and metal-detection equipment.
- Maintain motors, drives, inverters, contactors, temperature controllers, heating systems, burners, and safety circuits.
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, PLC documentation, and equipment manuals.
- Inspect control panels and replace faulty electrical components.
- Support machine installation, testing, commissioning, and improvement projects.
- Record maintenance activities, repairs, and spare-parts usage.
- Follow electrical-safety, food-hygiene, and health-and-safety procedures.
- Work closely with production staff to minimise machinery downtime.
Essential skills and experience
- Previous experience as an Electrical, Electronics, Automation, or Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.
- Good knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery and electrical control panels.
- Experience maintaining Fabcon frying equipment.
- Experience maintaining Ishida and TNA weighing and packaging machines.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of motors, variable-frequency drives, sensors, pneumatics, heating controls, burners, and industrial wiring.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and technical manuals.
- Understanding of safe isolation and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly to breakdowns.
- Willingness to work shifts and provide emergency support when required.
Preferred qualifications
- Electrical or electronic engineering qualification, apprenticeship, diploma, or equivalent experience.
- PLC fault-finding experience, preferably with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar systems.
- Manufacturer training or practical experience with Fabcon, Ishida, or TNA machinery.
- Experience in crisps, snacks, or other food-manufacturing facilities.
- Knowledge of food-safety and hygiene standards.
