The role
The postholder will plan, deliver, high quality engaging, and interactive Maths and English learning sessions, ensuring that all learners are effectively supported in meeting the Maths and English requirements of their Functional Skills qualification pathways including Stepping Stones to Functional Skills and Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills.
You will provide robust teaching, learning, and assessment for learners who need to develop their Maths and English skills alongside their main vocational studies, undertaking regular reviews to monitor progress and remove barriers to achievement. Programmes of learning will be well-structured, responsive, and inclusive, with teaching adapted to meet individual learner needs and promote sustained progress. Working as part of the Quality & Curriculum Team, you will offer informed guidance and signpost learners to appropriate internal and external support services where additional learning needs or neurodiversity, whether declared, emerging, or previously unidentified, may impact engagement or progression. This will ensure that every learner can participate fully and productively in their programme.
You will collaborate closely with delivery teams across Apprenticeships, ASF, Study Programme, and Skills Bootcamps to ensure that learners with additional learning needs are identified at the earliest opportunity. You will contribute to the planning and implementation of tailored support strategies and ensure that this support is maintained consistently throughout each learner’s programme.

Demonstrable experience in a similar role.

A-level qualification in Mathematics, English or ICT.

Excellent standards of communication skills, both written and verbal.

a strong awareness and understanding of Mental Health issues.

Relevant teaching qualification.

TAQA Assessor Award or equivalent (desirable)

An Internal Quality Assurer award (or equivalent) (desirable)

Experience working with and supporting SEND learners who have barriers to accessing and progressing on their programme.

Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of neurodiversity issues and be able to put in place effective plans to support learners on their learning journey

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to present to groups or individuals.

Excellent negotiating, influencing and problem-solving skills especially around logistical planning.

Highly competent ICT skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.

Able to produce and review complex information and documents to a high standard.

Able to support learners’ support needs, welfare and social well-being.

Implement, record, review and adapt support strategies throughout the learner journey.
