We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Head of Maintenance & Estates to take ownership of the maintenance, safety and development of our growing nursery estate.
This is a varied role combining practical maintenance with leadership, planning and project management, helping us ensure every nursery remains safe, welcoming, compliant and maintained to a high standard.
Your Role
As Head of Maintenance & Estates, you will:
- Oversee the maintenance of our nursery buildings, gardens and outdoor areas
- Carry out hands-on repairs including joinery, decorating, basic plumbing and general building works
- Manage reactive maintenance across multiple sites
- Develop and manage Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes
- Plan, prioritise and monitor maintenance works
- Lead and support our in-house maintenance team
- Manage contractors, quotations and external works
- Carry out site inspections, risk assessments and health & safety checks
- Support refurbishment, improvement and development projects across the group
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in maintenance, facilities, estates or property management
- Strong practical maintenance skills across a range of trades
- Experience leading teams and managing contractors
- The ability to manage multiple sites, projects and priorities
- Good knowledge of health & safety and building compliance
- Experience with planned maintenance and refurbishment projects
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- A proactive, reliable and hands-on approach
- A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel between our nurseries
- Trade qualifications, IOSH/NEBOSH or experience within nurseries, schools, healthcare or another regulated environment would be advantageous.
