Finance Assistant – Part-Time, 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract
We are seeking an organised and proactive Finance Assistant with particular focus on credit control experience to support our finance team on a part-time basis for a six-month fixed-term contract.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is confident managing customer accounts, chasing outstanding payments, and supporting accurate day-to-day financial administration. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance & Admin team to maintain strong financial controls, support cash flow, and deliver a professional service to colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
· Carry out credit control activities, including monitoring overdue accounts and following up with customers by phone and email.
· Maintain accurate customer account records and update notes following credit control activity.
· Issue customer statements, copy invoices, and payment reminders as required.
· Allocate customer payments.
· Support sales ledger administration, including invoice processing and query resolution.
· Assist with month-end tasks and general finance administration.
· Build positive working relationships with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
· Escalate payment issues or account concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
About You
We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, a professional telephone manner, and the confidence to manage credit control conversations in a clear and customer-focused way.
Essential Skills and Experience
· Previous experience in a finance, accounts, or credit control role.
· Good working knowledge of sales ledger processes and debt collection procedures.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Good numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy.
· Confident using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and finance/accounting systems.
· Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work independently when required.
· A positive, flexible, and team-focused approach.
Desirable
· Experience of Netsuite – this is not essential as full training will be given.
· Experience working in a small or busy finance team.
