Job Title: Maintenance Technician – Electrician
Location: Billingham, UK
About the role We’re looking for a hands-on Maintenance Technician (Electrician) to keep our Billingham site running safely and reliably. You’ll carry out day-to-day maintenance, fault finding, and breakdown response on our electrical infrastructure, support isolations and permit-to-work processes, and help drive a best-in-class safety and compliance culture. You’ll work closely with other trades, contractors, and planners to minimise downtime and keep critical systems available.
What you’ll do
- Perform safe, efficient fault diagnosis, maintenance, and servicing across site electrical systems, following OEM instructions and HSE standards.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, schedules, P&IDs, and specifications to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Prepare, isolate, and reinstate plant and equipment; coordinate isolations with the Site Responsible Electrical Engineer and support the permit-to-work process.
- Complete and manage electrical test certificates and related documentation for review and archiving.
- Support on-call coverage and respond to emergency call-outs outside core hours when required.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team and planners to report progress and assist colleagues as needed.
- Induct and supervise contractors on site where required.
What you’ll bring Minimum
- Recognised electrical apprenticeship and Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation/Maintenance.
- 4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English, Maths, and a Science.
- 3+ years’ experience in industrial/manufacturing, facilities, or site services maintenance.
- Strong fault-finding skills across LV electrical distribution, lighting, drives, HVAC/plant interfaces, and utilities.
- Ability to interpret electrical/mechanical schematics, P&IDs, and OEM manuals.
- Competent with CMMS (e.g., SAP) for work orders, PM scheduling, and asset records.
