Tech Repair Technician — Tech Drops
We’re looking for a practical, detail-oriented freelance Tech Repair Technician to help get our pre-owned tech ready for its next home.
You’ll inspect, diagnose, repair and refurbish devices before they go live on Tech Drops. From laptops and phones to consoles and accessories, you’ll make sure every item is clean, functional, accurately assessed and ready to sell with confidence.
What you’ll do
- Test incoming devices and identify faults, wear and missing parts
- Diagnose and carry out repairs, upgrades and component replacements
- Clean, refurbish and prepare stock to a high presentation standard
- Securely wipe devices and complete relevant setup and quality checks
- Grade stock accurately, documenting condition, repairs and remaining issues
- Keep clear records of parts used, repair time and device status
- Flag items that are not commercially viable to repair
- Help keep repair tools, parts and work areas organised
- Work with the Tech Drops team to prioritise stock for upcoming sales
What we’re looking for
- Hands-on experience repairing consumer tech, such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, consoles or PCs
- Strong fault-finding skills and a methodical approach to testing
- Confidence using repair tools and working with small components
- High attention to detail, including cosmetic condition and final quality checks
- An understanding of data security and safe device-wiping practices
- Ability to work independently and keep accurate notes
- A genuine interest in technology and giving good devices a second life
Nice to have
- Experience with Apple, Windows, Android, gaming consoles or PC hardware
- Soldering or board-level repair experience
- Experience with stock grading, resale or e-commerce operations
Pay and arrangement
- Freelance, day-rate role
- £120 per day
- No employment contract; work is offered on a freelance basis as stock and business needs require
- Location: Crewe, but we're moving to Nantwich soon
- Start date: Immediate
