Rushcliffe Borough Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Health team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of environmental protection and housing functions while helping to protect and improve the health, wellbeing and environment of our communities.
As a Senior Environment Health Officer you will undertake a broad range of duties providing specialised advice and contributing to the delivery of key environmental and public health priorities across the borough. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or a keen interest in contaminated land regulation and investigation, who can support the Council's
work in ensuring land is suitable for its current and future use. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the assessment of potentially contaminated sites, review technical reports and work with developers, consultants and regulatory partners to secure positive environmental outcomes.
About You
You will:
- Hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in Environmental Health and be authorised by the Environmental Health Registration Board
- Have experience in environmental protection, housing enforcement or related regulatory work.
- Possess excellent communication, investigation and problem-solving skills.
- Be confident working independently whilst contributing positively to a team environment.
- Have the ability to interpret legislation and make balanced, evidence-based decisions.
- Ideally have experience of contaminated land assessment, development control consultations or environmental risk assessment, although applications from candidates looking to develop these skills are also welcomed.
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle for business use.
