Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our care home team. This role is essential in ensuring that our residents live in a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment. You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of maintenance tasks, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, basic electrical work, painting, and general upkeep
- Ensure all equipment, fixtures, and facilities are safe and in good working order
- Conduct regular health and safety checks and report any issues promptly
- Maintain outdoor areas, including gardens, pathways, and car parks
- Respond quickly to maintenance requests from staff and residents
- Assist with room preparation and refurbishment when needed
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers as required
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work and compliance checks
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Practical skills across multiple trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, decorating)
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
- Understanding of working within a care environment (desirable but not essential)
