HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic
Chris Wright Baildon Ltd are looking for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic to join our in-house workshop team in Baildon, West Yorkshire.
We operate a specialist heavy haulage, HIAB, plant transport and machinery movement fleet, including HGVs, rigids, trailers, low loaders and support vehicles.
This is a full-time, permanent role working on our own fleet with varied work, steady hours and good earning potential.
Pay and Benefits
- £18.00 per hour basic
- £27.00 per hour overtime after 45 hours
- Typical earnings £49,000–£56,000 depending on overtime

The Role
- Routine maintenance, inspections and repairs
- Preparing vehicles and trailers for MOT
- Diagnosing and repairing defects
- Working on HGVs, trailers, low loaders and specialist fleet equipment
- Keeping accurate maintenance records
What We Need
- Previous HGV, trailer, plant or commercial vehicle maintenance experience
- Good fault-finding and repair skills
- Reliable, practical and safety-focused approach
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
Useful But Not Essential
- HGV licence
- IRTEC accreditation
- Welding / fabrication experience
- Hydraulic experience
- Experience with HIABs, low loaders or specialist vehicles
