28.5 hours per week term time + 5 INSET days

Maidenbower Infant School is seeking to appoint a Qualified Early Practitioner for our outstanding School Nursery, which is a Governor run, PVI nursery established in 2004 on a temporary contract until July 2027.
The nursery provides a safe and stimulating environment for 3- and 4-year-old children who are looking to have fun developing the lifelong skills of literacy, numeracy, independence, creativity and problem-solving.
The nursery is a sessional provision offering both the 15-hour Universal Free Entitlement sessions and the 30-hour Extended Free Entitlement sessions.
You will work in a warm, friendly and caring environment, and play an essential role in our school and nursery.

The early years team considers carefully what pupils will learn. They manage activities with great skill, including checking pupils’ learning. Staff make excellent use of these checks to adjust pupils’ tasks. ' Ofsted July 2025

What You Need to Succeed
PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR NURSERY EDUCATOR
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Full and Relevant Level 2/3 qualification in Early Years.
- Experience of working in an early years setting for the last year.
- Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
- A clear DBS check.
- Knowledge of Child Protection issues and procedures.
- Paediatric First Aid Qualification
- Have a current knowledge of the Early Years statutory Framework
- Willingness to attend appropriate training courses
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues

- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and parents - orally & written
- Flexibility and ability to work from own initiative.
- Patience, sensitivity and understanding.
- Understands the need for confidentiality.

- Responds intuitively to needs.
- A calm and caring attitude.
- Support the nursery ethos.
- Manage time effectively to ensure tasks are carried out within a given time frame.

Specific Skills
- Builds a caring and supportive relationship with the children which demonstrates respect, trust and patience.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records and assessments.
- Establish a supportive relationship with the parents.
- Manage children with specific needs who may demonstrate difficult behaviour.
- To be able to use own initiative to develop resources to support individuals and small groups of children.
- Assist the Nursery Manager in creating a positive learning environment.
- Experience in leading large and whole group activities.
- Experience in building relationships with parents and children in the role of a key person.
