Role Purpose
The Town Ambassador / Visitor Information Advisor serves as a welcoming and knowledgeable representative of Warwick, providing high-quality visitor information and advisory services to tourists, residents, retailers, and local businesses. The role is focused on enhancing the visitor experience, promoting Warwick’s attractions and services, encouraging engagement with the Visitor Information Centre (VIC), and supporting the town’s tourism and economic development objectives.
The postholder will be highly visible throughout the town centre and key visitor locations, wearing a distinctive uniform displaying the Warwick branding and acting as an approachable point of contact for anyone seeking assistance or information.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Visitor Information and Customer Service
- Provide a friendly, professional, and informative service to visitors, residents, and businesses.
- Respond promptly and effectively to enquiries, offering accurate and up-to-date information about Warwick and the surrounding area.
- Assist members of the public with directions, transport information, local amenities, attractions, events, accommodation, and other visitor-related queries.
- Actively monitor visitor enquiries and identify opportunities to enhance the visitor experience.
Promotion of Warwick and the Visitor Information Centre
- Promote Warwick as a visitor destination and encourage exploration of the town’s attractions, heritage, retail offerings, and events.
- Distribute promotional literature, maps, leaflets, and marketing materials to visitors.
- Encourage visitors to obtain promotional resources available through the Visitor Information Centre.
- Actively drive visitor footfall to the Visitor Information Centre and raise awareness of its services.
Research and Visitor Feedback
- Gather information and collect feedback on behalf of the Visitor Information Centre.
- Record and report visitor comments, trends, and insights to support service improvement and tourism development initiatives.
Events and Community Engagement
- Support and participate in promotional campaigns, community activities, and events organised by the Visitor Information Centre, Warwick Town Council, or partner organisations.
- Represent the Visitor Information Centre at Warwick Market and other public events, assisting with information stalls and promotional activities.
- Engage positively with visitors and stakeholders during events to promote Warwick and its services.
Operational Support
- Provide support to the Visitor Information Centre during periods of staff absence, increased visitor demand, or adverse weather conditions.
- Assist with additional visitor-facing duties as required to ensure continuity of service.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold the values and reputation of Warwick Town Council and the Visitor Information Centre at all times.
