Wymondham Garden Centre
We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and hardworking Plant Area / Nursery Supervisor to join our team. This is a hands-on role that requires a passion for plants, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work in a busy retail environment.
As Plant Area Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the plant area and nursery, ensuring high standards of plant care, merchandising, customer service, and team performance. You will lead by example, working alongside your team to maintain an attractive, well-stocked, and thriving plant department.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and motivate the plant area team on a daily basis.
- Manage staff, including delegating tasks, supporting development, and maintaining high performance standards.
- Ensure excellent plant care through watering, feeding, pruning, pest and disease management, and general maintenance.
- Maintain high standards of presentation and merchandising throughout the plant area.
- Provide knowledgeable, friendly advice and outstanding customer service.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and ensure accurate pricing and labelling.
- Receive, check, and display incoming plant deliveries.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Work closely with management to achieve sales targets and seasonal objectives.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake physical tasks, including lifting, moving stock, and setting up displays.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience managing or supervising a team in a retail or horticultural environment.
- Strong horticultural knowledge with the ability to confidently advise customers on a wide range of plants.
- A genuine passion for plants and gardening.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive, positive attitude with the ability to work under pressure.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example.
- Good attention to detail and high standards of work.
Desirable
- Experience in a garden centre or plant nursery environment.
- Experience with stock control and merchandising.
