Your Duties:
- To carry out a programme of pest control work including, in particular:- treatment and control of rodents, insects and other pests and all related tasks, disinfection and disinfestation of lands, premises, persons, clothing, furnishings, belongings and other items, testing of sewers and drains,and providing advice on the practicalities of testing to Environmental Health Officers as required.
- To undertake disinfection and disinfestation duties, including, destruction of rodents, insects and other pests and related tasks, relief duty and searching of ships at the port, to test sewers and drains, control of mosquitoes and flies and laying bait and poison as required.
- To maintain records relating to work carried out as required and to provide reports as required.
- To participate as required in student training programmes.
- To liaise with maintenance staff of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Housing Associations, Northern Ireland Water, and other organisations as required.
- To participate in all induction and in-service training provided by Belfast City Council and in the induction and support of all newly appointed staff and other human resource management policies and procedures, as appropriate, including, absence management, disciplinary and grievance procedure.
- To participate as directed in the councils recruitment and selection procedures.
- To act in accordance with the council and departmental policies and procedures including customer care, equal opportunities, health and safety, safeguarding and any pertinent legislation.
- To undertake the duties in such a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of the council.
Your Profile:
Have a full, current driving licence which enables them to drive in Northern Ireland, or, have access to a form of transport which enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, at least one years relevant work experience in each of the following areas:
- Pest control operations, programmes, or treatments of pests.
- Following appropriate health and safety procedures whilst carrying out duties in the workplace, outlining any risks associated with the job role; and
- Providing a high level of customer care to internal and external customers including dealing with and resolving customer complaints and enquiries.
Additional Information:
- Full-time, Temporary (12 weeks initially).
- 37 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm, Friday 08:30am to 4:30pm.
